In the premiere episode of T1D Stories, Adrian Gonzalez sits down with a very special guest — his daughter, Hannah — to talk about her journey living with type 1 diabetes since being diagnosed at age 11. From the fear and uncertainty of diagnosis to running marathons, playing rugby, mentoring a young girl with T1D, and riding in the Breakthrough T1D Ride, Hannah shares a powerful story of resilience, perspective, and living life without limits.
A Meaningful Moment from the Episode
When Hannah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 11, she had never even heard of the disease. Looking back, she shares what that moment felt like — and what would have made all the difference.
“I just remember thinking I was going to die. That’s all I was thinking. All I knew was that I didn’t have this thing called insulin anymore, and that sounded really bad.”
“What little Hannah needed was to see that she wasn’t the only one with this disease and that there were other people out there living full, happy lives.”
